About Lyford Cay

Lyford Cay is located at the western end of New Providence Island, thirteen miles west of downtown Nassau, Bahamas. Comprising some 1,100 acres, development of the Lyford Cay community was initiated in 1959 by the late Canadian industrialist, Mr. Edward Plunkett “E.P.” Taylor.

Mr. Taylor said: “I could see the Nassau tourist boom coming, and I knew it was important to keep the people who had been coming to the Bahamas coming back.”

Over five decades later, Lyford Cay has become one of the world’s most successful residential communities, continuing to attract people to the Bahamas from all over the world, who have established second homes with strong ties to the Bahamian community – along with increasing numbers of Bahamians and expatriates who have established Lyford Cay as their sole or primary residence.
