The Lyford Cay Property Owners Association

The Lyford Cay Property Owners Association was established in 1961 when only a few homes existed in Lyford Cay and was incorporated 1971.

The Lyford Cay POA is a not-for-profit association of homeowners and property owners within Lyford Cay. The operations of the Association are overseen by the Board of Directors elected annually, which establishes overall administrative policies and directives. Members of the Board, comprising Lyford Cay property owners, serve the community with no compensation, giving freely of their time in upholding the level of services and high residential standards within Lyford Cay.

The purpose of the POA is to provide general services to the community: 24-hour security and fire protection; sanitation (garbage and garden cutting collection); landscaping of common areas; mail service, road maintenance; canal wall maintenance; and direct liaison with community organizations and agencies of the Bahamas Government.

The Lyford Cay Club

The Lyford Cay Club is a private membership club, owned by its membership and governed by a Board of Governors elected annually. Since opening in 1959, the Club’s objective has been to maintain the highest quality standards of excellence in services and facilities for its members and guests. The Club’s facilities, services, and amenities are only available to members and their guests.

The Lyford Cay Foundation

The Lyford Cay Foundation Inc. and the Canadian Lyford Cay Foundation, established forty years ago by members of the Lyford Club and community, together constitute the largest charity in the Bahamas, performing a variety of charitable activities in the areas of education and support for Bahamian charitable organizations.

Lyford Cay Hospital

A medical facility servicing the Lyford Cay community was established by E.P. Taylor in 1966. Since 1987, Dr. Dean Tseretopoulos has provided comprehensive medical care and specialized services in cardiology, internal medicine, and family practice to an increasing number of patients throughout the Bahamas. Recompression chamber/hyperbaric oxygen therapy is also available.

The Lyford Cay International School

The Lyford Cay International School (LCIS), an independent nondenominational day school, is one of 139 schools worldwide offering an International Baccalaureate (IB) Nursery through 12 Grade Education. Founded in 1962 by E.P. Taylor, LCIS has evolved from a small community school to a highly respected educational facility accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges; LCIS is also authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization to teach the Diploma Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and the Primary Years Programme.

Green Systems Ltd.

Green Systems Limited is a eco-friendly joint venture between community organizations and commercial entities operating as co-operative partners in recycling green waste into mulch and compost, reducing the landfill burden at the local dump and offering the by-products for sale locally.
